The seventh edition of the Java Competition - Program in Greenfoot announces its winners. Organized by the Adfaber association, with the support of the sponsor Oracle Academy, the competition challenged high school students passionate about technology to create their own game or interactive lesson in the Greenfoot platform.

About the Java Competition - Code in Greenfoot

The Java Competition - Program in Greenfoot is a wonderful opportunity for high school students to test their computer science knowledge and develop the skills required for future programmers, by creating a game or an interactive lesson in the Greenfoot platform. Participants have access to online educational resources, which help them learn the basics of Java programming and then validate their knowledge by participating in the competition.

The jurors, volunteers with experience in programming and testing, analyzed each project individually, considering aspects such as functionality, innovation, and aesthetics.

Third Place in the Java - Program in Greenfoot 2023 Competition 🥉

Team Jumpex, with the project of the same name, ranks in 3rd place! The project is created by students Dobrin Laura Florentina and Cerbu David Ion Silviu, from "Ioan Slavici" Theoretical High School in Panciu, Vrancea, under the guidance of teacher Apreutesei Maricica.

The team in third place presented a project with a little robot, an artificial intelligence that wants to find out what happiness is and what human emotions are, going through several stages in the game.

Second Place in the Java - Program in Greenfoot 2023 Competition 🥈

The team Green-Finger, with the project "LevelUp", ranks in second place! The project is developed by students Voicu Andrei-Daniel and Spoiala Adelina-Ioana, from the National College of Computer Science "Tudor Vianu" in Bucharest, under the guidance of prof. Minca Carmen.

"In the Level-Up project, the player, taking on the role of a person who wants to save the world from the zombie apocalypse, needs to use the structure of each level to avoid the zombie horde and obtain an object with which to return to the place from where they started. We aimed to create a game where there are no battles with enemies; the player has to use a good plan to block their enemies in inaccessible places or to sneak between them without any problems," declared the team members.

First Place in the Java - Program in Greenfoot 2023 Competition 🥇

Team Ucenicii Dorului, with the project 'The Path To Eternity', ranks 1st! The project is created by students Tibirean Petru Alexandru and Stâncescu Victor Gabriel, from the 'Andrei Șaguna' National College in Brașov, under the guidance of teacher Modrisan Adrian.

“We created a 'dungeon crawler' type game where you have to solve several puzzles. The story starts in a village, and after the main character meets an old man on the street, he has to go on the path through the nearby forest until he reaches the outside of a cave. After a small puzzle to enter it, the player has the choice between two thematic paths, one of fire and one of ice, each with three rooms with three different puzzles. After successfully navigating them, he is rewarded with two different magical amulets, and after obtaining both, he can return to the cave entrance to see the end of the game”, declared the team members.

"We congratulate all participants for their effort and for the passion they put into programming."
