Registrations are now open for the most anticipated Java competition organized by the Adfaber Association and sponsored by Oracle Academy. Every year, hundreds of students passionate about computer science participate to learn the basics of Java programming in a fun and interactive way.
Until when and how can students register for the "Learn to Program with Alice" competition?
Registrations for the Java programming competition are open between September 19th and October 28th.
Because the most beautiful and daring projects are born out of fun and imagination, the Adfaber Association challenges students to develop a game exactly as they wish, using programming concepts with Alice.
Study resources are available for free and can be accessed by teachers who wish to mentor students throughout the competition.
The theme of this year's edition is "My Own Interactive Game with Alice", and middle and high school students, even if they haven't programmed before, sign up and learn the basics of Java while working on their competition project.
In the competition, teams of 2 students and a mentor (teacher) from grades V-VIII and IX-XII from all counties of the country can participate. The teacher can mentor multiple teams, but students can only be part of one team. Teams are formed based on the educational cycle the students are part of.
Registration is simple and takes less than 2 minutes, by filling out the form available on the competition's page.
Teachers and students are invited to visit https://adfaber.org/alice/ and join.
Why should you participate in the 'Learn to Program with Alice' competition?
Java is the most widely used programming language worldwide and one of the most in-demand in the job market. Students participating in the competition have the opportunity to learn or practice the basic concepts of Java programming. They can create interactive lessons, entire virtual "worlds", with characters they design, even if they've never programmed before.
The national competition "Learn to Program with Alice", organized by ADFABER and sponsored by Oracle Academy, is in its eighth edition and counts participants who return with enthusiasm. Here's how the experience was for some of the finalists of the last edition!
"An IT teacher needs access to free resources for the latest and most used programming languages, which they can then present in class in an attractive manner. To be drawn to programming, students need to see the practical side, work on their own projects, make mistakes, and try again. To enjoy the satisfaction of a program or even a game they created that works. And this competition offers exactly these elements. "Learn to Program with Alice" is a fun method of teaching and accelerated learning of Java basics." says Alin Chiriac, Founder of Adfaber.
