Technovation Girls is the annual competition that promotes the role of women in technology.
According to statistics, participants show a higher interest in technology and leadership, and 58% of graduates enroll in computer science courses after Technovation.
This year, Romania takes pride in having 5 semifinalist teams in the Technovation competition, and 5ForLife is one of the junior teams that proved they deserve a spot on the podium. Students Luiza Tamaș, Amalia Balașcă, Alessia Zapodeanu, Miruna Tanasă, and Sînziana Munteanu, from Școala Gimnazială Gheorghe Pătrașcu in Buruienești, stood out with their application AllForHealth, a project through which they aim to educate and sensitize people to adopt a healthy eating style.
AllForHealth - leveraging technology to enhance health
The application provides users with access to relevant information about nutrition, healthy foods, and foods to avoid.
Users have access to guides and useful tips to adopt a healthy lifestyle and make informed choices. In addition to nutrition information, the application also provides details about sports centers located in the country, encouraging users to engage in physical activities.
Another benefit of AllForHealth is the dedicated discussion forum. Users can share experiences, ask questions, and provide advice to other community members. In other words, it offers access to a space where people support each other throughout the change process.
However, the project is not limited to just providing information and a dedicated community, but offers a broader vision: raising the country's government's awareness about the importance of healthy eating among young people and in the educational system. It also advocates for the opening of a cafeteria in every school, in collaboration with local food suppliers, to offer students a healthy and balanced snack.
5ForLife – Inspiration for Future Generations.
The amazing girls from the 5ForLife team have shown that age is not a barrier when it comes to social involvement. These girls remind us that each of us can contribute to positive change in the world with the resources we have, regardless of age.
