The team Big Brain++, made up of: Alexia Florete, Antonia Onișoru, Teodora Șerban, Ilinca-Maria Velciu, and Maria Neagoe from Colegiul Național de Informatică Tudor Vianu, in Bucharest managed to capture attention and impress the jury in the Technovation Girls Romania competition, organized by Adfaber, with the support of the sponsor BCR.
The RecoverEats application enjoyed success as it offers a modern method of recovering from eating disorders, which led to the team's qualification in the international semifinals of Technovation Girls.
RecoverEats redefines the treatment of eating disorders
This application is a revolutionary digital product, created with the purpose of offering help and support to those who are dealing with such disorders. It has the following features: meal recording, emotion logging, progress tracking, and connections with clinicians.
A key feature of the RecoverEats application is the meal recording function. Users can document in detail the foods they consume, monitor their progress, and take steps to improve their eating habits.
"Given that many people struggle with eating disorders, RecoverEats aims to address these issues by counting daily calorie intake and offering healthy food recipes. On the main page, the user can add the foods they've consumed to their daily history and see how many calories they've consumed that day. They have a wide range of foods to choose from and a section where they can see how many carbohydrates, proteins, and fats they still have to consume that day," Teodora, a team member, shared.
In addition to logging meals, the app gives users the ability to track emotions associated with eating. "The Self Care page helps reduce stress and anxiety through practical relaxation exercises and offers daily motivational quotes to boost well-being," Ilinca, a team member, shared.
A crucial element of the RecoverEats app is the connection to clinicians specialized in eating disorders. Users have direct access to professionals for support and personalized counseling. "The We Care page provides a list of therapists, nutritionists, psychologists that the user can contact when they need assistance in addressing these issues," Alexia, a team member, explained.
